1. Start the habit of eating better.

Going on a fitness journey entails developing healthy habits not only in the gym but also in the kitchen. It’s a given fact that healthy eating is essential to weight loss, but there is a misconception that in order to lose weight, you have to go on a very strict diet. Although it is strongly recommended to eat healthy food, you don’t have to totally swear off sinful dishes. As long as you track the calories you take in and the calories you burn, you won’t have to stay away from your favorite dish. It’s okay to indulge yourself in your guilty pleasure from time to time, but always remember the keywords: “in moderation.”

Anytime Fitness experts also recommend eating light carbs like pasta or rice before going to the gym. Never work out on an empty stomach: you need fuel to perform the exercises well. After your sweat session, take in food rich in protein such as chicken breast or beef. Experts at Anytime Fitness also note that drinking some supplements can help you recover fast. Staying hydrated is also a huge must. Not only does water keep you hydrated, but it also helps in curbing your appetite.

2. Know the body part you want to develop and commit to exercises that focus on them.

For toning the arms, upper body workouts like and push and pull movements will do wonders. For strengthening the legs, helpful workouts include squats, deadlifts, and hips hinges.

But before all that, you would have to brace yourself for the first few weeks. These will be crucial as you kick bad practices and build new healthy habits, so you’d have to adjust and be patient. On your first month, you might notice some drop from your original weight, but the full results of your workout and diet will not be fully noticeable yet. So if you do not see results immediately, do not be disheartened; trust the process!

Work hard but also know when to rest; don’t overdo it. Taking recovery days is also part of the process. It also helps if you view this fitness journey not as a temporary thing but as a lifestyle change.
