Metro Manila, travel, things to do, weather

The commemoration of the Virgin Mary’s birthday will occur this September 8. Despite President Rodrigo Duterte’s designation of this day as a special working holiday, it will not generally affect the traffic and travels in Metro Manila since it will fall on a Sunday this 2019.

The general overview of Metro Manila this week will be consistently rainy in terms of the weather. For the traffic situation, constructions will take a toll on the already heavy traffic congestion in Parañaque City. Lastly, new air conditioning units are installed in MRT-3 trains to provide a better commuting experience to passengers. Read on to get the details.

Weather: Sunny to rainy weather during the whole week

September is predicted to be a rainy month, so expect constant thunderstorms this week. There are days when it would be sunny, but light to moderate showers are presumed to occur from afternoons to evenings. The temperature will range from 29 °C to 31 °C during the day. At night, the temperature will be cooler with a range of 24 °C to 26 °C [1].

Don’t forget to bring rain protection before heading outdoors. Commuters and motorists should also observe safe driving practices on wet roads to avoid accidents. For those with flights, check the social media pages or websites of airlines for cancellation announcements.

Construction of LRT-1 Cavite extension to cause heavier traffic in Parañaque City

Construction works for the Cavite extension project of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) have started last September 1. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) started the project on the planned Dr. Santos Station in Parañaque City. Motorists and commuters around the area can expect slower traffic flow due to this [2]. The extension project is expected to cut travel time between Baclaran and Bacoor City to just 25 minutes.

33 new air conditioning units installed in MRT-3 trains

Speaking of trains, commuters of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) can expect cooler trips as DOTr installed 33 new air conditioning units to all train wagons. The 33 units are just the first batch of the ordered air conditionining units; more are set to be delivered and installed [3].
