The
vaccination council in Puerto Princesa City targets to fully inoculate fifty-thousand individuals of its barangays by the end of September, City Health Officer and Puerto Princesa City COVID-19 Vaccination Council (PPC-COVAC) Chairman, Dr. Ricardo Panganiban says. Dr. Panganiban is optimistic that their goal of reaching this number will be plausible. They will initiate the vaccination drives by going to each barangay to give vaccines to the people.
According to Dr. Panganiban,
fully vaccinated individuals in the city have reached 40,717 out of the target 201,000 to reach collective immunity; those who received their first doses are 58,481. [1] The Chairman also said that they would be the ones who would go near the respective barangays because he firmly believes that the vaccines are for the masses. [2] Panganiban also said that they will organize the schedule for disseminating the vaccine for each barangays. Some vaccination drives that have started will continue to be held in the City Coliseum. However, the barangays they can go to are covered courts, and the rest will be catered to in malls or the City Coliseum.
Panganiban explained that the areas with covered courts would be the barangays that they would initiatively go to. Then, residents of adjoining barangays that the PPC-COVAC cannot access will be the ones to go to the location where the PPC-COVAC stands by. Vaccinations for San Pedro will be held in the City Coliseum, while vaccinations for San Manuel will be in Robinson’s San Manuel, as Panganiban further explains. Residents from nearby barangays will be openly catered to once the PPC-COVAC is available near their vicinity.
The city government is still waiting for two more deliveries of vaccines from the national government and the AstraZeneca manufacturer.
The purchased vaccines by the local government unit are expected to be around an estimate of 20,000 doses. Figures of the vaccines from the national government are still unknown. Still, the vaccines are surely expected to arrive in a large quantity since the National Capital Region has more percentage coverage of vaccines to be provided.
