The month-long celebration of the return of the Baragatan Festival in Palawan has been officially announced in a press conference at the Provincial Capitol of Palawan by Provincial Information Officer Christian Jay Cojamco. The Baragatan Festival in Palawan is celebrated from June 10 to June 30. The soft opening of the festival shall be commenced on June 10, while the Baragatan Festival’s grand opening will be on June 17.
Palaweños are very much anticipating the famous festival in Palawan after a long time of not being able to have the festivities due to frequent lockdowns and the pandemic. The residents’ excitement further fueled up after the announcement of the return of the Baragatan Festival, along with preparations for the upcoming celebration.
One of the preparations for the upcoming festival is the road closure at Fernandez St. from the corner of Rizal Avenue to the gates of Cory Freedom Park, where the festivities will be mainly held. The closure of the area is also designated for the Caraenan Food Fair every night.
Together with the
Baragatan Festival is the commemoration of the 120th Founding Anniversary or Civil Government Anniversary of the province of Palawan and shall be incorporated with other programs like the
Mutya ng Palawan, Saraotan sa Dalan, Pista ng Kalikasan, float parade competition, Caraenan Food Fair, JCA Photo Legacy Photo Exhibit, local government unit (LGU) and Private Trade Fair, sports events, and other activities to give entertainment and fun to the people.
One of the Baragatan Festival organizers in Palawan, Karen Ganapin, says the Palawan LGUs shall actively participate in the events and contests. Amore extensive and more prizes for this year’s highly anticipated festival in Palawan, Philippines shall be expected. Every night, there would be music, live performances, and shows.
Ganapin added that they have already sent invitations and notices to the municipal mayors of Palawan to participate in the preparation and activities for the Baragatan Festival. They have received optimistic replies, implying excitement from them to come by Puerto Princesa to participate and celebrate with the Palaweños in this year’s Baragatan Festival.
The festival is anticipated to be unique since its return from almost a two-year hiatus. All residents from 23 Palawan municipalities are excited and waiting for further announcements regarding the much-awaited
festival in Palawan.
