Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Award Best of the Best Destinations ranks Palawan as the 4th Trending Destination in the World for 2024, making the province the best island in the Philippines to visit any time of the year.

This reward as the best place to go in the Philippines grants Palawan one of the highest among the top destinations globally, deliberated by prominent travel guidance platform Tripadvisor. The province’s prestigious recognition is based on its tourism quality and accommodations and as one of the most popular vacation spots in 12 months, curated among guest reviews.

Along with Palawan are other popular worldwide destinations: Tokyo, Japan; Seoul, South Korea; Halong Bay and Sapa in Vietnam; Bogota in Colombia; Pattaya in Thailand; Casablanca in Morroco; and Taipei in Taiwan; and many other renowned destinations.

Tripadvisor states that Palawan is a ‘slice of heaven’, a sliver of an island teeming with exotic wildlife, fascinating fishing villages, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You can meet endangered animals in Palawan at the Calauit Game Preserve and the Wildlife Sanctuary. Palawan also boasts the beauty of the ruins of Japanese shipwrecks in Coron, which is hailed as one of the best dive sites in the world. Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco says that with this accolade, Palawan continues to thrive as a testament to the ‘island’s timeless allure’. DOT will also do its part in maintaining Palawan’s status as a tourism development while enhancing the experience of travelers visiting the island.

Palawan’s recognition as a top international tourist destination supports the province’s standing in the worldwide tourism industry, which would market Palawan’s tourism and the Philippine economy by attracting more visitors. The Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best award winners are among the top 1% of listings on Tripadvisor.

The 2024 Travelers’ Choice Awards also features various destinations, including other Philippine destinations. The awards recognize how destinations provide travel experiences and tourism services offered by each province and each destination in every country across the globe. With this recognition, the DOT is very grateful to the travel community for placing Palawan at the forefront of the worldwide travel trends as one of the best islands in the Philippines to visit soon.

In 2022, a London-based travel magazine named Palawan the ‘Most Desirable Island’. In 2012, the Puerto Princesa Underground River was included among the 7 Wonders of Nature.
