Many utility firms have given deadline extensions to its customers.


Since March 17, 2020, Luzon has been under enhanced community quarantine to combat COVID-19. With this comes the temporary closure of most establishments, cancellation of flights, and an order for people to stay at home. However, despite closures, essential businesses such as utility firms continuously provide services for their customers. To serve customers in the best way they can, some businesses are extending bill payment deadlines. Find out what these utility firms are and the leeways they have given in light of the global COVID-19 pandemic below.


1. Meralco

In light of the enhanced community quarantine, Meralco has given a 30-day payment extension for all bills due from March 1 until April 14, 2020. The 30-day extension will start from your due date. All maintenance activities will also be postponed unless necessary. For concerns, you may send them a message on Facebook or call their local hotline, 16-211.


2. Manila Water

Manila Water reassured the public that its water supply is adequate enough for all its customers. The water services company has also given a 30-day payment extension for all water bills. You may also make use of online payment channels to pay your bills.



3. Maynilad

Maynilad’s maintenance services will continue but with strict precautionary measures.

Like Manila Water, Maynilad has also provided a 30-day payment extension for all water bills affected by the enhanced community quarantine. The said 30-day extension will be added to the normal 60-day grace period before customers receive a disconnection notice. The water services company has also announced that it will be suspending the disconnection of overdue accounts until the end of the quarantine period.


4. PLDT Home, PLDT Enterprise, and Smart & Sun Postpaid

Now that alternative academic means such as online classes and work-from-home settings have been implemented, having a WiFi connection is important more than ever. This is why SMART Communications has given all its PLDT Home, PLDT Enterprise, and Smart & Sun postpaid customers a 30-day payment extension. The wireless communications company also noted that you can still pay your bills anytime you want through online channels.


5. Globe

Globe sends out advisories to its customers every now and then, so watch out for these.

Globe Telecom has also put in place a 30-day bill payment extension for all its users. The telecommunications company has also extended the validity of Globe Rewards points until June 30, 2020.



6. SKY Cable and Internet

SKY Cable has also offered a 30-day extension for your bill payments. If you have concerns and other needs, you may send them a message at skyserves@mysky.com.ph, or through their social media accounts. SKY’s customer service will be open 24/7.


7. Cignal Postpaid

Like the other telecommunications company, Cignal TV will be giving out a 30-day payment extension on the due dates. Cignal also asks its customers to enroll in its e-bill program so they can receive their bills. Visit my.cignal.tv to enroll.


8. Home Credit

Attention, all Home Credit users! You may extend your payments by visiting Home Credit’s Facebook page and answering the COVID-19 form link. Home Credit will not be charging fees and penalties due to the global pandemic.
