Selling of Goods Made Convenient Thru Go Palengke in Puerto Princesa

The project supports local farmers and fishermen!

Here is how Palawan supports local farmers and fishermen to gain income through social media.


Farmers in the Philippines have had to deal with sudden changes when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the county. In addition, the farm community lost their income when supermarkets, wet markets, and restaurant chains closed caused by the quarantine protocols. With these issues faced by the agriculture sector, it alarmed organizations to help vulnerable communities.

To increase the marketing channels of farmers to consumers, Palawan shifts to digital agriculture. JCI Puerto Princesa and JCI Puerto Princesa Kiao, and Philippine National Red Cross, created Go Palengke. The project spearheaded by these organizations was also supported by the Tactical Operations Wing West’s (TOW West) Usapang Pangkapayapaan, Usapang Pangkaunlaran (UP UP) Palawan, and Assistant City Agriculturist Enera Tuibeo for supplement income of farmers and fishermen.

The COVID-19 has made people dependent on digital technology more than ever before; entrepreneurs used social media for selling and marketing products, websites developed for consumers, and online delivery applications for safer transactions of goods. With all the digital revolutions made by entrepreneurs, Go Palengke aims to ensure that it doesn’t leave farmers and fishermen behind.



The program allows farmers and fishermen to directly bring and sell their products to Kadiwa, while the organization takes charge of marketing goods to the online community. Apart from the Go Palengke program, Tuibeo’s office also provides seedling distribution and machine use to the agricultural sector in Palawan.

According to Fhether John Calanday, the Go Palengke caters to online payment and takes orders from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, while the cut-off of orders is at 3:00 PM.
