An Update on Baguio and Its Famous Tourist Spots Under the Quarantine

The City of Pines is one of the areas in Luzon considered as a high-risk area. The city will still be under enhanced community quarantine and all ECQ rules will still be maintained. All entries to Baguio shall also be limited to people authorized by the Interagency Task Force for Emerging Diseases and the local COVID-19 IATF, those with essential travel purposes including food and medical supply movement, health workers, and medical emergencies, and returning Overseas Filipino Workers in coordination with OWWA.

The City of Pines is arguably one of the best and most well-known tourist spots in the country. However, due to the global pandemic and the quarantine that prohibits mass gatherings, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong signed an executive order that temporarily closed some of Baguio’s famous places. These include Burnham Park, Mines View Park, Wright Park, and Botanical Garden. Bars, KTVs, movie houses, recreational centers, spas, and other establishments that are usually filled with people were closed down as well.

Not all famous spots have been closed. Teacher’s Camp, one of Baguio’s popular tourist spots, was turned into an isolation facility for migrant workers who are returning home to the province. It houses a total of 129 beds, and OFWs are expected to stay within the premises for quarantine before being allowed to go to their respective homes.
