If you’re a bookworm who’s wants to feel the Halloween spirit but are not a huge fan of parties, you can celebrate through Halloween Comic Fest. Drop by any Metro Manila Fully Booked branch nearest to you to get a free comic book. Be sure to arrive early to get a copy. But if you miss the free comics, you can still get your hands on the hottest graphic novels such as Archie and Calvin and Hobbes through their sale.

There’s a common denominator that binds running and horror: they are both great in giving you a surge of adrenaline rush. The Shake, Rattle, and Run! event combines both as it features a fun run and Halloween-related activities.

Activities at the event include a Halloween Cosplay Contest, Trick or Treat, and a Halloween foam after-party. Top finishers of this action-packed event will get cash prizes and gifts. Attendees can choose among various distances: 1 kilometer (1KM), 3KM, 5KM, and 10KM. Each participant will get a race singlet, a finisher’s medal, and race kits.

How to get there: Ride the LRT-1 then get off at Vito Cruz station. Walk towards CitiLand Tower near Pablo Ocampo Sr Street to get to the terminal of jeepneys. Ride a jeepney heading to PICC or CCP. Fare is around the minimum (PhP10).

Because of movies such as Coco and The Book of Life, Filipinos have become more aware of Días De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a Mexican holiday that is often comparable to Filipinos’ celebration of All Saints’ Day. Ever since the release of the mentioned films, Day of the Dead became one of the most popular themes for Halloween parties. As a matter of fact, there are two Day of the Dead-themed parties in this list, and the first one would be El Dia De Los Muertos: A Spooky Monstercation.

Although set in Shangri-La Hotel’s Marquee Tent, this event make attendees feel like they’re in a creepy graveyard decorated with spooky candles and flowers. There would be live entertainment, exciting giveaways, fun activities, delicious box meals, a grand dessert buffet, and more for everyone in attendance. Families who will attend the event may also want to have a staycation, as the venue also offers room packages.

How to get there: Ride the MRT-3 then alight at the Shaw Boulevard Station. Exit the station facing EDSA Shangri-La Mall and SM Megamall. Shangri-La Hotel is just walking distance from the station.

Where: The Island PH, Uptown Bonifacio, The Fort

Entrance Fee: To be announced; Strictly no costume, no entry

Just like El Dia De Los Muertos, The Island Halloween Fiesta’s theme is also the Day of the Dead. However, unlike the former event where kids are welcome, this celebration is more suitable for those who would like to party with overflowing alcohol and dance to the beats of some of Manila’s best DJs, like Bad Boy Jeff, Euric, and Katsy Lee. For fans of hip-hop, there would also be performances from Careless Music artists Nadine Lustre, James Reid, Curtismith, Sofia, Kingwaw, and Astrokidd.

Be sure to wear your best Day of the Dead costume to enter and get to win prizes.

How to get there: Ride the MRT-3 then alight at the Guadalupe Station. From the station, ride a jeepney heading to Market! Market!. It would pass by the area. Fare is around the minimum (PhP10).

When: October 31, 2018; 6:00PM

Where: Jess and Pat’s, 63 Maginhawa Street, Diliman, Quezon City

For some, having a broken heart is worse than any ghost or monster. While both can make one stay up all night, a heartbreak haunts persistently and can last for quite a long time. For anyone who’s single but afraid to fall in love again or someone who just got their heart broken, this event is a way to let you vent and let out the pain.

With songs from I Belong to the Zoo and a sad songs-only open mic afterwards, there will surely be more feels than fears. And who knows? You might find your next “boo” at this event.

How to get there: Ride the LRT-2 and alight at the Anonas Station. Exit the station then head to St. Joseph Church. Ride a jeepney heading to City Hall or Fairview. Ask the driver to drop you off at SM Savemore-Sikatuna. Ride one of the tricycles there and ask the driver to take you to Jess and Pat’s. If you’re coming from EDSA, you can also ride a bus bound for Fairview. Get off at Philcoa and walk to the tricycle terminal near the Bank of Commerce. Ride a tricycle and ask the driver to take you to 63 Maginhawa, where Jess & Pat’s is located.
