Though this week will start off with a thunderstorm in spots, the rest of the days will have pleasant weather. Now that the "No Vending" policy in front of Burgos Public Market has taken effect, expect less traffic when going east. For more good news, the construction of the Pala-Pala Food Terminal will soon be completed. Read on to get the full details of these travel news in Bacolod!

Weather Advisory: Expect fair and warm weather ahead

It looks like there will be a thunderstorm in spots coming this Sunday, March 3 in the City of Smiles. A high temperature of 34°C that is likely to run through the day will result in humidity. On Monday, March 4, skies will turn out mostly sunny and clear. But on Tuesday, a couple of afternoon showers in spots will prevail. The rest of the week will enjoy less humidity and little morning rains. This week’s temperature will range from 31°C to 34°C [1].

Traffic News: "No Vending" policy in front Burgos Public Market now in effect

Expect less traffic now that the "No Vending" policy in front of Burgos Public Market is in effect. It will be enforced every day from 9 AM to 4 PM [2]. Aside from the "No Vending" policy, Burgos Street will also have a "no parking" rule as well. Market stall owners, however, are allowed to load and unload their goods or products.

Mr. Ernie Pineda, Bacolod City Executive Assistant head of the market coordinating and monitoring task force said that the removal of illegal structures will also be part of their plan to address the traffic congestion. He added that their association will also monitor their members inside and outside the market to maintain the cleanliness of the market. Part of their program is to follow waste segregation and schedule of garbage collection which starts from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. daily.

Travel Update: Pala-Pala Food Terminal to be completed soon

The Pala-Pala Food Terminal may be open to public soon since the Provincial Government asked the contractor, the Dynamic Builders Inc., to fast track the building construction.

According to Ms. Lucille Gelvolea, Negros Occidental Acting Provincial Administrator, the timetable for the construction of Pala-Pala food terminal was moved from October 2018 to June this year due to presence of the 50 stalls of food vendors and some additional works [3].

Once completed, the complex will accommodate food courts, spaces for dry goods, groceries, storage area, organic trading post, seafood for sale, and meeting and conference rooms that can accommodate up to 300 persons. The structure will also have ample space for food and fish storage.
