Bacolod is teeming with updates this week! For one, there will be a shortened operating schedule for The Ruins this week. Meanwhile, transport groups submit a proposal for a fare hike. As for the weather, thunderstorms will still dominate Bacolod City. Despite this, the public can look forward to a new welcome area and new additions to major hotels.

Weather: Thunderstorms throughout the week

It will be partly sunny on April 29 to 30, but Bacolod will still be affected by thunderstorms throughout the week. The public is advised to stay at home or to avoid going to open fields during a thunderstorm following some incidents last week when individuals were struck by lightning. According to AccuWeather Forecast, the minimum temperature will be at 23 °C, while the maximum temperature will be at 34 °C [1].

Traffic: Transport groups to submit position papers for fare hike

Transport groups such as the Sentrong Samahan ng Tsuper at Operators Negros (SSTONE) and Federation of Bacolod City Drivers Associations Inc. (Febacda) seek the approval of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to increase the jeepney base fare rate from PhP7 to PhP9 for the first five kilometers. The projected fare rate is eyed because of the increase in fuel rate and other commodities [2]. They were told to submit their position papers and were given 15 days for the deadline.
