Prepare your summer outfits as the hot temperature shows that summer weather will conquer the City of Smiles this week. Even hotter news from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was revealed: the implementation of the drainage project along Circumferential in Bacolod City to keep the area from flooding during heavy rains. Meanwhile, another DPWH initiative project, the Esplanade, will soon be enjoyed at the eastern side of the city.
Weather Advisory: Fine weather ahead
After having a gloomy Holy Week, nice weather is in store for Bacolodnons. Expect clear skies with partly cloudy days. This summer weather is also expected to send people flocking to nearby beaches and resorts to alleviate the heat. Many stop-overs along the highway, be it in northern or southern part of Negros, will also cut the boredom from long drives. Nice views and thrilling roadways will also be a nice bonus if you’re planning to go to the mountain areas of the province. Prepare for the heat of this this week’s temperature as it will range from 34 °C to 36 °C [1].
Traffic News: No more floods along Circumferential Road soon
The implementation of the drainage project along Circumferential Road to Lupit River will soon start [2]. Engr. Ferdinand Magada, Chief of Construction Section of DPWH, said that the construction of the 500-meter drainage will begin once the project will be awarded to the contractor. He added that the implementation will start from PanAsiatic to Lupit River. PhP20 million is allocated for the project.
Travel Update: Esplanade project set to be completed this month
Bacolodnons will experience better walkways at the eastern side of Bacolod City as soon as the Esplanade project will be completed. According to Engr. Magada, DPWH’s Chief of Construction Section, the half-kilometer project is now 95% completed. The project covers areas from Lupit Bridge along the Circumferential Road going to the Bacolod Government Center (BGC). This P37-million project of DPWH is similar to the one implemented in Iloilo [3].
With this development, people will get to go on leisurely walks at the Esplanade. The place will also have benches, railings, lighting facilities, and blocks to allow the people to enjoy their free time with their families and friends.
