This White Sandbar in Negros Will Give You the Impression of Being in Maldives

Manjuyod Sandbar is a breathtakingly beautiful strip of white about 15 minutes away from Bais City in Negros Oriental. This stunning island is only visible during low tide, and it is home to a cluster of native wooden houses that seem to defy gravity when the high tide sets in. This sandbar in Negros is surrounded by a tranquil environment, with clear blue skies and the sound of waves gently lapping against the shore.

The Manjuyod Sandbar is an enchanting destination that will awaken you with its natural beauty. This magnificent strip of glistening white sand covers an area of approximately 600 hectares, including the submerged portions. As you cruise the boat to the sandbar, you'll be greeted with unspoiled views of the cerulean blue sea and the lush greenery of the mangrove forest. Once you reach the sand bar, you'll be amazed by the crystal-clear waters. No wonder it is dubbed the “Maldives of the Philippines”.

Besides the beauty of this white sandbar in Negros, you can also experience the magic of swimming with dolphins on your day tour. The best time to catch a glimpse of these fascinating creatures is just after sunrise when the ocean is at its calmest. They are also highly active at this time, especially in the areas where tourists tend to gather, giving you a greater chance to witness their playful antics. Although the location is beautiful, it's important to note that the area lacks any luxurious amenities you may be accustomed to in typical resort destinations. You won't find extravagant resorts, high-end hotels, or indulgent restaurants and bars. Instead, you will be surrounded by the raw beauty of nature, with bungalows built over the pristine waters. These modest bungalows are set upon stilts, offering breathtaking views of the sparkling waters. You'll find yourself living in a simple yet charming abode with no access to electricity or running water. From here, you can enjoy the serenity of the surroundings and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of this unspoiled location.

If you prefer to stay overnight at Manjuyod Sandbar, you can rent one of the wooden houses and spend the night amid nature, enjoying the tranquil surroundings and the captivating sunrise. Renting a cottage costs PhP5,000 for daytime use, PhP5,000 overnight use, and PhP9,000 24-hour use. Ensure to bring food, water, flashlights, and mosquito repellent. You should also get a first aid kit, flashlights, and external batteries for your mobile phones.

If you plan to visit this sandbar in Negros, December to April is the best time, as it is in the rest of the Philippines.

To get to Majuyod from Bais City, take a tricycle to Canibol or Capiñahan Wharf. For PhP3,700, you can rent a boat for around 20 minutes. The price includes a whole-day rental for up to 10 people and a boat tour to the Manjuyod Sandbar, Bais City Bird Sanctuary, and the Mangrove Forest.
