New developments in Iloilo that are set to make the City of Love a haven for shopping destination.

The construction of high-rise buildings has been evident in Iloilo City these past few years. If you haven’t been to the City of Love for quite some time, you might just lose your way. Most of its districts have gone through a face lift. Every now and then, Ilonggos flock to a particular destination to witness its soft or grand opening. This trend is expected to continue as more developments in Iloilo are about to be unveiled this year.

Below is a list of new places that can include on your bucket list when you plan your next visit to Iloilo.



1. Western Visayas Regional Musem

The Iloilo Provincial Jail will be converted to a museum this 2018. This beautifully refurbished piece of classic of architecture was previously known as the Iloilo Rehabilitation Center (IRC) building. It will soon become the Western Visayas Regional Museum. Its inauguration is planned to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Dinagyang Festival this January.

The museum features an elevated glass dome and a landscaped rooftop. The renovated building will be home to the cultural and natural heritage of Panay Island and Negros Occidental.


2. One Madison Place Luxury Residences

The five-year development plan of One Madison Place that started in 2012 will soon be realized. This luxury residence at the heart of Iloilo Business Park is one of the first condominiums that will alter the lifestyle of Ilonggos and even residents of Western Visayas. This three-tower residential development addresses the demands of the modern Ilonggo whose life revolves around work, leisure, and comfort.

Unit prices range from PhP2.45 to PhP7.5 million, depending on the size and utility of the area. Turnover of units were scheduled for 2017.



3. The Palladium

The Palladium is a 22-storey tower situated in the Iloilo Business Park township along Megaworld Boulevard in Mandurriao, Iloilo City. Lauded as the tallest residential condominium in Western Visayas, it is set to open in 2019.

The Palladium will bring a different kind of experience to its condo residents. The concept of condominium living is still new among Iloilo locals, although it is not new among tourists. The Palladium features a sky garden for the exclusive use of its residents. It will also be the first residential tower in Iloilo City with an infinity pool. With an outdoor spa, gym, and dining area, it will be the first integrated development in Iloilo City.


4. Festive Walk Parade Mall

Where: Iloilo Business Park, Mandurriao, Iloilo City

An alternative lifestyle mall is set to open by the first quarter of 2018.


One of the most awaited urban developments in Iloilo City will be opening its doors to the public. The completion of the Festive Walk Parade Mall fulfills the Ilonggos’ dream of an alternative lifestyle and shopping destination. The development is expected to add to the captivating features of the 72-ha. township in Mandurriao.

Ilonggos can expect great amenities such as high-end boutiques, retail shops, bistros, and souvenir stores. Visitors and locals will get a feel of the upscale lifestyle with various leisure activities and culinary offerings. The mall also features a VIP cinema, event center, and food hall.



5. Avida Towers Atria

Ayala Land, Inc., a leader in the Philippine real estate industry, has launched Avida Towers Atria, their first condominium development in Iloilo City. Developed under the Avida Land brand, the project is set to be completed by January 2019.

Avida Towers Atria is located just across another Ayala Land lifestyle hub, The Shops at Atria. It is also just a few meters away from Smallville, the nightlife district of Iloilo City.


6. Goldberry Lite Hotel Iloilo

Last December, Goldberry Lite Hotel Iloilo opened its doors to the public. It offers a mix of the classic Ilonggo architecture and modern world-class hospitality for its clients. The hotel is a great location for those who also want to visit Guimaras. The port of Ortiz is only a few steps away, where you can take a ferry ride to the island.



7. Plazuela Dos

Where: Diversion Road, Mandurriao, Iloilo City

Plazuela Dos is an expansion project of the sprawling and ambitious Plazuela de Iloilo. The business and lifestyle complex will be built by Florete Land, Inc. with Spanish-Italian architectural design by Palafox & Associates. The establishment will be home to restaurants, shops, and business offices.

Plans for Plazuela Dos include a supermarket and al fresco dining areas for BPO employees seeking alternative dining options. The colorful dancing fountain at Plazuela Dos is expected to add beauty to its Old World atmosphere. The expansion continues the Spanish and European themes, a fitting tribute to Ilonggo history.
