Relive the turn of the century with Aegis at Hatchi this coming July in Cebu.

Looking to have a night out while in Cebu in July? You may want to consider watching Resurrected Hatchi with AEGIS on the first Friday of the month. The event headlines one of the most popular pop rock bands at the start of the millennium: Aegis. Made up of siblings, the band is known for the belting voices of the vocalists and their guitar riffs.
Tip: Before you watch a concert, make sure you are familiar with the songs of the band so you can sing together during mass sing-alongs. Wear comfortable clothing and avoid bringing jewelry during the event.

2. Voice Quest: The Search for the Next Platinum Star Season 3

Get ready to belt it out this coming July at the Voice Quest singing contest.

Singing enthusiasts will have the chance to show off their vocal prowess at the Voice Quest: The Search for the Next Platinum Star Season 3. Set at J Centre Mall, the singing contest pits the best amateur singers in the Queen City of the South up against each other. Cash, purchase privilege cards, and scholarship grants at Music in Motion Cebu Phils. are at stake. Participants must prepare at least three English songs and two Filipino songs during the audition. Fifty participants will be selected to join the 1st Elimination Round set on July 27.
Tip: Joining a singing contest means you have to be prepared and be confident during the audition stage. You should also dress appropriately during the audition and avoid uncomfortable clothing.
How to get there: From Ayala Center Cebu, hop on a jeepney headed for J Centre Mall at the Ayala Center Cebu Jeepney Terminal. Make sure to ask the driver if he will pass by the mall since some jeepneys do pass by the mall on certain days of the week.
3. 1st Cebu Chess Society Cup

Are you ready to blitz your opponent or at least avoid a draw? In this case, you may want to join the 1st Cebu Chess Society Cup on July 6 and 7 at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex. Organized by the Cebu Chess Society, the event features four categories: Open, 16 and under, 12 and under, and 9 and under. The FIDE laws of chess will govern the tournament and pairings will be done under the Swiss Manager Pairing System. But if your En passant skills are a bit rusty, you may opt to watch the tournament for free.
Tip: If the chess tournament uses clocks, you should use the same hand to push a piece and punch the clock. Set your phone in silent mode to avoid distracting the players in the tournament area.

Learn the basics of watercolor this coming month.

If you want to learn basic watercolor painting, you may want to join the Basic Watercolor Loose Florals Painting Workshop. The event will be held at The Spot Co-Working Space in Banilad. It will feature discussions about water color mixtures and techniques, color harmony, leaf and floral formation, and floral composition, among others. Participants will receive a manual, watercolor paint, a watercolor palette, and watercolor paper.
Tip: If you are planning to attend a workshop, always arrive early to avoid disrupting the room when you arrive late. Avoid side conversations, especially when the instructor is talking. Lastly, learn as much as you can while you are at the workshop.

If you feel like dancing to the music with your friends while in Cebu, you may want to check out the Dance Ultra: A Battle for Supremacy Open Division. Open to groups of at least five dancers from 13 years old and above, the event gives dance enthusiasts the chance to show off their moves. Unlike other dance contests, this event requires participating groups to submit a dance video. They are also allowed to edit the video to enhance their choreography and performance. The dance should be Hip Hop, Urban Dance, Pop Jazz, or any street dance style.
Tip: Quality is important in a dance video to make it enjoyable for viewers to watch. You can avoid shaky videos by putting the camera on a tripod and shooting the clips in landscape view to fill up the screen of the viewer.
