Sinulog 2020 is nearly here and the streets of Cebu are gradually readying the festive look for this annual celebration. While the Sinulog Grand Parade is the main event that residents and visitors look forward to, there are many other events and activities lined up for the festival. A tattoo competition, beauty pageant, music festival, and a comedy act—these are just some of the happenings lined up for Sinulog 2020’s schedule of activities. Without any further ado, here’s the Sinulog 2020 schedule of activities and events that you can look forward to during the celebration.


1. 8th Annual Dawn of the Party in Paradise Tattoo Expo

When: January 10-12, 2020
Where: SM City Cebu Trade Hall, Juan Luna Avenue, North Reclamation Area, Cebu City
Ticket Price: PhP300

Do you want to get inked while in Cebu for the Sinulog? Or are you simply interested in checking out the latest trends in the tattoo industry? In this case, the 8th Annual Dawn of the Party in Paradise Tattoo Expo can be a part of your itinerary when you are in Cebu on the weekend before the Sinulog Grand Parade. Tattoo enthusiasts will gather at the SM City Cebu Trade Hall for a tattoo competition featuring the best tattoo artists in the country. The event will also feature the works of famed tattoo artist Roman Abrego.

Tip: If you are considering getting a tattoo, it is important to do your research and not to rush your decision. Tattoos are permanent and may not be easy to remove if you change your mind later.

2. Official Sinulog Schedule

TThe Sinulog Festival will culminate in the Sinulog Grand parade where the contingents dance on the streets to the delight of locals and visitors of Cebu alike.

The main reason people visit Cebu in January is to watch and participate in the Sinulog Festival. The official activities will start on January 10 with the launching of the festival. The Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan (Sinulog for the Youth of the Province) and Sinulog sa Baranggay-Dakbayan (Sinulog for the City Villages) will follow on January 11 and January 12, respectively. January 17 will see the selection of the Sinulog Festival Queen while the Solemn Procession of the Miraculous Image of the Santo Niño will be held on January 18. The festival will culminate in the Sinulog Grand Parade on January 19.

Tip: Expect congestion in the area due to the popularity of the Sinulog Festival’s different events. Attending them will require a good amount of patience and perseverance. Due to this, you should be at the venue early or get a ticket beforehand to ensure you get the best seat in the house.



3. Binibining Cebu 2020

When: January 13, 2020
Where: Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, Salinas Drive, Cebu City

On January 13, the Binibining Cebu 2020 will be crowned at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. The new ambassadress is expected to exemplify the modern Cebuana who will promote the culture, heritage, and overall beauty of the different cities and towns of Cebu. If you are in town on the Monday of the Sinulog week, you may want to check out the event.

Tip: Similar to concerts and plays, it is important for you to bring a printed version of the ticket to a beauty pageant if you bought it online. You should also buy the tickets as early as possible, especially when it comes to popular events.

4. Just Kidding World Tour

Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy will return to the Queen City of the South as he brings his Just Kidding World Tour to Cebu. He is famous for his stand-up comedy that has left his audiences crying with laughter. If you have no plans on January 14, you may want to score some tickets to watch this world-class performer on stage and find yourself rolling on the floor laughing.

Tip: When attending a comedy act, avoid recording the stand-up routine since it violates the copyright of the material of the comedian. Besides, you will have more fun if you keep your phone in your pocket.

5. Hydro Cebu Music Festival at La Plage

When: January 17 to 19, 2020
Where: La Plage Club, North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City
Ticket Prices: PhP1,000 for the one-day access ticket; PhP1,500 for the two-day access ticket

Cebuanos will finally get to experience a different kind of pool party with the Hydro Cebu Music Festival at the La Plage Club.

Aquaphiles will be jumping with glee in anticipation of the Hydro Cebu Music Festival from January 17 to 20. The three-day event will be held at the La Plage Club and will feature the best disc jockeys in this part of the archipelago. Moreover, the best international DJs will also play some sets during this pool party.

Tip: Attending pool parties will most likely get you wet, so it is advisable to bring another set of clothes during these events.

How to get to La Plage Club: From the SM City Cebu, ride a taxi to La Plage Club in the North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City.



6. Pintal - Live Graffiti and Mural Competition

When: January 17-18, 2020
Where: Talamban Food Park, Hiway 77, Cebu City

And now, they have another avenue to showcase their talents in the Pintal - Live Graffiti and Mural Competition. Held at the Talamban Food, the event brings together the top street artists of Cebu in a festival of food, music, and art. You may want to drop by and witness the biggest love graffiti and mural competition on this side of the archipelago.

Tip: Art events that allow eating inside the venue means you should be careful with your food and drinks to avoid damaging the works of art at the venue.

How to get to Talamban Food Park: From Ayala Center Cebu, get in a taxi and tell the driver to bring you to Times Square Talamban. Talamban Food Park is right behind Times Square Talamban.



7. SB19: Get In The Zone

When: January 25, 2020
Where: IC3 Convention Center, Cardinal Rosales Ave corner Pope John Paul II Avenue, Cebu City

Cebuano fans of SB19 will have a reason to celebrate as the P-Pop boy group will hold a one-day event on the last Saturday of January. SB19: Get In The Zone will see the Filipino idol group of ShowBT lighting up the stage with their popular songs that have endeared them to their fans in the Queen City of the South.

Tip: When attending concerts, you should go to the venue early in case there is free seating during the event.

How to get to IC3 Convention Center: From Ayala Center Cebu, get on a jeepney headed for Mabolo. Tell the driver to let you off across Landers Superstore. IC3 Convention Center is right beside Landers.



8. Vegan Om Fest

When: January 25-26, 2020
Where: Maayo Medical Clinic, North Park, UN Avenue corner Plaridel Street, Alang-alang, Mandaue City, Cebu
Ticket Prices: PhP1,499 for early bird rate on or before January 11; PhP1,699 for regular tickets
