Halloween is just around the corner. And for sure, TV screens will be filled with spine-chilling movies that will keep you up all night. Along with the scares, Halloween is known to be filled with candies after a night of trick-or-treating. Although it’s usually an activity for kids, us adults can join the fun, too.

We hunt down candy-centric desserts around the Metro to help you satisfy your sugar cravings just in time for Halloween. Read on and see the cafes and restaurants in Manila that serve these sinful treats.


1. Potchi Strawbery Cheesecake by The Baker’s Table

Everyone loves candies, especially the ones we used to munch all the time as kids. The Baker’s Table is a homegrown dessert shop in Maginhawa Street that creates delectable desserts using sweets that we know and love.

If you’re not a fan of chocolate but still want something sweet, their Potchi Strawberry Cheesecake is a delicious reimagining of our favorite gummy candy. They use the strawberry part of Potchi and melted it into a topping of the cheesecake. Other candy-flavored cakes at The Baker’s Table include Haw Haw Cake, Mik Mik Mousse and Flat Tops Chocolate Cake. A six-inch cake is priced at PhP600 while a nine-inch cake is PhP1,050.


2. Chocolate Overload Jr. Cake by Himagas Cakes and Pastries

Halloween won't stop your heart, rather the candy-filled chocolate cake of Himagas Cake and Pastries will surely send you into dessert heaven. Himagas Cakes and Pastries is a homegrown bakeshop in Las Piñas that creates various cakes incorporating our favorite chocolate candies such as KitKat, Maltesers, and M&Ms.

One yummy example of their work is the Chocolate Overload Jr. The two-layered chocolate cakes is a chocolate lover’s dream come true filled with chocolate ganache and topped with Ferrero Rocher, Maltesers, and shavings of Belgian chocolate. Price starts at PhP500.

3. Chocolate Cherry Sour Pop by Sugar Factory

Most candy stores are usually for kids, but Sugar Factory creates sweet treats and drinks fit for adults, too. Originating from Las Vegas, the candy store and restaurant became famous for their out-of-this-world milkshakes and cocktails.

Although it’s technically not a dessert, but Sugar Factory’s Chocolate Cherry Sour Pop is a drink-nd-sweet-treat-in-one that is perfect for grownups. The candy cocktail is made with cherry vodka and chocolate, infused with Godiva Milk Chocolate Liqueur and cherry puree. It’s also topped with gummy bears and a piece of Sour Pop lollipop.


4. Fried Suman, Mangga and Chocnut by Neil's Kitchen’s

Alabang is known to house various culinary gems, and one of which is Neil’s Kitchen. The restaurant became known for its picture-worthy modern interiors with touches of whimsy. But before you become absorbed with their awe-inspiring place, their food is not to be dismissed, too.

Neil’s Kitchen serves Filipino dishes with a modern and Instagram-worthy twist. If you happen to find yourself here on Halloween, make sure to grab a bite of their Fried Suman, Mangga, and Chocnut (PhP250). It’s a combination of our favorite local desserts topped with coconut milk and sprinkled with lots of Chocnut crumbles.


5. Skittle Sour Shake by Shakeaway

Where: 4th Floor Uptown Mall 36th Street Corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

You don’t need to wait for Halloween to grab one of Shakeaway’s desserts in a cup.

For those who are in a hurry and prefer their desserts in a cup, Shakeaway is the answer to your sugary cravings. Shakeaway prides itself as the world’s largest milkshake bar company with 180 different ingredients in their menu to choose from. Aside from shakes, they also have smoothies, frozen yogurt, and shaved ice.

Shakeaway allows you to create your own shake. But if you don’t know where to start with their truckload of ingredients, one fun drink to try is their Skittle Sour Shake (Regular PhP190/Large PhP250). You can choose to either have ice cream or frozen yogurt as your base, and have some colorful Skittles to be incorporated in your shake.
