feng shui tips 2020

Make sure your home is ready for what 2020 has to offer!

Over the years, more and more people have followed feng shui’s simple customs—and for good reason. Feng shui helps keep houses clean, organized, and healthy; plus, it can make family ties and friendships stronger and unbreakable by keeping negative energy from entering the home. Feng shui isn’t just about rearranging your furniture and redecorating your home, though: it is about making your home a comfortable and peaceful sanctuary.

Feng shui practices change depending on the year and its corresponding Chinese animal zodiac. For 2020, it’s the Year of the Metal Rat. To attract good fortune and wealth, keep your family healthy, and fill the new year with blessings, simply follow these feng shui tips for 2020 listed down below. From colors to furniture, these simple tweaks can surely make your home a positive and vibrant haven! Read on to see five feng shui tips for 2020 you can follow easily!

1. Surround your home with 2020’s lucky colors.

Metallic shades are in!

In Feng shui, colors are one of the most powerful elements that impact energy. Since 2020 is the Year of the Metal Rat, colors such as white, gray, and metal silver are considered lucky. Repainting the walls white, displaying objects in gold, and covering your pillows with gray pillow cases are only some of the few things that you can do in order to bring prosperity and positive energy or chi in your home. This year, try to minimize dark colors, as these can bring negative energy or sha chi.

2. Cure all the corners in your home.

Chinese coins are considered lucky charms.

Feng shui also prescribes which items should be placed in every direction of the house. In the west corner, align your home with the element of the year by putting metal-colored items. Keep green and blue plants away from the north corner. If you have plants, it is advisable that you put these in the south corner, together with wood carvings and clay sculptures. Avoid placing potted plants in the east corner; place aquatic ones instead. To keep your family safe and protected, do not stack sharp objects like knives or scissors in the center area of your house. If your front door, bedroom door, or kitchen door is located in the east, you can put a gray or white rug to avoid imbalance.

If rearranging or redecorating seems impossible, you can always opt for a salt cure. All you need is a bowl, six Chinese coins, and water. Fill your bowl with salt and place the Chinese coins on top of it, with the Yang side (the side with the four Chinese characters) facing up. Finally, fill the container with water to the top. Salt can absorb sha chi, so it is advisable to place the salt cure in the four corners of your home.

3. Balance positive energy in your bedroom.

Make your bedroom cozier and luckier by keeping things symmetrical!

Your bedroom is one of the most personal spaces in your home, so it must be surrounded with positive energy. Keep your bedroom aura balanced by placing a money tree in all corners of the room. You can also add a touch of pink or red as these colors are believed to improve relationships. Keep in mind that these colors must only be used as accents because they are associated with yang energy or bright energy, and too much can be too stimulating. If you wish to place nightstands or lamps on your bed side, keep everything symmetrical by placing these on both sides of the bed. Most importantly, declutter. A messy room can obstruct the flow of chi.

4. Slow down the positive energy flowing in your garden.

Attract chi outside your home!

In feng shui, the garden is believed to the “lifeblood of the living earth.” It is also said that gardens reflect someone’s personal aura, and it can also enhance a house’s chi. Putting straight stone paths in gardens can create energy that moves too fast. Instead of having a straight path, create a curved path instead. This can create a softer and more gentle energy pace. Meanwhile, water ornaments such as still ponds and fountains must be placed in the north to attract wealth and prosperity.

5. Keep your living room full of positive energy.

Give your living room a vibrant and comfortable aura.

The living room is the place where visitors are entertained, so this area represents the way the homeowner is perceived by the outside world. Not only must this room look presentable at all times, but chi must always be present here as well. One way to do so is to remove negative symbolisms such as crisscrosses in your living room. Avoid putting furniture against the walls, and put your furniture legs under rugs. Slow chi down by using a rug on the floor, and always keep the path to the front door neat and clean, for this is the gateway through which all kinds of energies enter your home. The cleaner the passageway, the brighter the energy.

Whether or not you believe in feng shui, these bright tips can still help keep your house fresh, clean, and comfortable. Happy New Year!
