If you frequently ride the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (
LRT-1), prepare for higher fares starting Wednesday, April 2. This increase follows a fare adjustment petition submitted by the railway system and subsequently approved by the Department of Transportation.
The newly approved LRT fare adjustments will increase the maximum fare for a single journey from PhP45 to PhP55. Additionally, the minimum fare will adjust from PhP15 to PhP20.
Furthermore, significant changes will be made to the pricing of stored value cards. The maximum fare for a stored value card will increase from PhP43 to PhP52, while the minimum fare will rise from PhP15 to PhP16.
According to the Light Rail Manila Corp., the fare increase is only the second time it has been granted an adjustment in the last ten years. The LRMC filed petitions for fare adjustments in 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2022, all of which were deferred.
