This Week in Palawan (June 27 to July 3, 2021)

The City Government of Puerto Princesa follows the national government’s protocols; restaurants should observe the 50 percent capacity for outdoor dining and 10 percent indoor dining. Meanwhile, outdoor exercises are allowed, given that physical distancing is observed. However, contact sports, indoor sports venues, tourist attractions, and venues for gatherings cannot operate under MECQ.

In an official Facebook post by Coron Public Information Office, the local government of Coron temporarily closes its borders to travelers from Nangalao, Linapacan, due to the rising cases in the area. The implemented travel moratorium took effect last June 19 and will end until July 3, 2021. Furthermore, essential travels and transactions shall be allowed entry to Coron provided that these individuals submit a travel pass issued from their respective barangay [2].

Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital in the Municipality of Roxas, Palawan, announced to the public that all its COVID-19 beds and facilities are already full [3]. The management also appealed that patients with severe symptoms cannot be given immediate care and attention due to depleted resources. Moreover, the health care facility reminds the public to exercise proper health precautions to avoid the spread of coronavirus in the province.

As of writing, the entire province of Palawan is in a state of calamity due to in COVID-19 surge [4].
