Under the general community quarantine guidelines, some establishments that closed during the ECQ can open once again. As a result, hotels and other accommodation establishments in well-known tourist spots like Tagaytay are slowly opening their doors, but with the strict observance of safety measures and guidelines. For the province of Batangas, the GCQ paved the way for brand new projects such as the usage of e-trikes and pre-appointment check-ups through calls or texts.

Quarantine Updates: Tagaytay releases guidelines for accommodation establishments under GCQ

In a social media post, Tagaytay released an Administrative Order that states guidelines on accommodation establishments that intend to resume operations. The Administrative Order indicates that these establishments, whether for guest accommodation or operation of in-house food facilities for take-out and delivery services, must secure a DOT Certificate of Authority to Operate. The establishments must submit the following requirements to dot4a@tourism.gov.ph:

1. Letter of Intent to Operate
2. For accommodation establishments that are non-DOT Accredited: a duly accomplished Application for DOT Accreditation complete with supporting documents

The AO also states guidelines on the guests who are allowed to be accommodated by the establishments. Rules on new bookings and prohibited bookings, and conditions for room occupancy under GCQ as required by the Department of Health were given as well. Traffic News: Batangas launches e-trikes to lessen pollution

A Memorandum of Understanding that launches the “E-Vehicle Initiative” was signed by the local government unit of Batangas last May 31, 2020. The said project is an initiative by First Gen Renewables, Inc. and it is set to launch the electric tricycle or e-trike industry. E-trikes are energy-efficient and environment-friendly three-wheeled vehicles that are powered by electric motors. They are also known to have a longer lifespan, and their maintenance cost is lower compared to conventional tricycles. This project will also serve as a support for the renewable energy program of Batangas to help reduce air pollution and carbon emission. [2]

Shopping News: Liquor ban lifted in Laurel, Batangas

Last May 22, 2020, Laurel City Mayor Joan Lumbresamo signed a memorandum that lifts the liquor ban in the City of Laurel. However, the memo also stated that drinking in public places, streets, and outside the residence is still prohibited. Mass gatherings and karaoke/videoke are also not yet allowed.
