Who Should Get the Second COVID-19 Booster Shot in PH?
An individual with cancer, HIV, and immunocompromised are eligible.

DOH advises the public to get booster shots to improve their protection against COVID-19 further.

The Philippines recently began its rollout of the second booster shot against COVID-19 last April 25. Those who have pre-existing medical conditions ages 18 and above are recommended to have their booster shots.
The Department of Health (DOH) listed down eligible recipients of the second booster shots with the following health conditions:
● Cancer
● AIDS or HIV
● Primary immunodeficiencies
In addition, patients who underwent organ transplants and taking immunosuppressants are eligible for the second booster shot.
Medical experts recommend that vulnerable individuals get their second booster since they’re the most affected if a new surge begins in the country.
Immunocompromised individuals who received their first booster shot as early as three months can get their second COVID-19 booster dose. They can choose from vaccine brands like AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer, Sinopharm, and Sinovac.
Senior citizens and health workers would have to wait until their group is scheduled for the second booster dose. No specific date has been set yet for other priority groups, but DOH is preparing guidelines.
DOH plans to administer over 690,000 jabs ro immunocompromised in the National Capital Region (NCR). DOH is also monitoring other areas in the Philippines with high cases of COVID-19 like Angeles City, Catanduanes, Ilocos Norte, Quirino, Olongapo City, and Eastern Samar.
