It’s amazing how time flies so fast. It wasn’t long ago that we were celebrating New Year’s Eve, and now we’re counting down the last few months of the year. Now that the first half of the year is already done, you might not want to miss out on making this year memorable. One way to do so is to go out there and attend various events in Bacolod this August 2019, like a tribute concert to one of the most influential bands in the Philippines, a dog show, a K-pop movie block screening, DIY classes, a marathon, and a seminar on how to make millions.

1. A Tribute to ASIN Concert

Where: Lupit Church, Lizares St., Bacolod City
When: August 3, 2019; 7:30 PM

ASIN is a Filipino folk-rock band that was the first group to include Filipino indigenous instruments in their songs. Formed in 1977, the band originally called itself“Salt of the Earth,”but later on changed it to “ASIN.” Some of their famous albums are “Ang Mga Awit ng Bayan Kong Pilipinas” (Songs of My Country, the Philippines), which tells of the various regions of the Philippine archipelago, and “Himig ng Pag-ibig” (Melody of Love), which captured the hearts of Filipinos. Noy Pillora, the founder of ASIN, initiated the Tribute to ASIN Concert. Other Filipino musicians will also be featured in this live event.

How to get to Lupit Church: Take a Bata-Libertad or Mandalagan Libertad jeepney from Lacson Street or SM City and ask to be dropped at Lupit Church.


2. NOKCI All Breed Championship Dog Show

Where: Ayala Malls Capitol Central Event Center, Gatuslao St., Bacolod City
When: August 9 to 11, 2019
Ticket Price: Free for spectators

If you are a fur parent or a professional dog breeder, you might want to sign up in this event. The Negros Occidental Kennel Club Inc. (NOKCI) will be hosting the NOKCI All Breed Championship Dog Show, an all-breed dog show wherein dogs compete to be crowned the best breed. Entry fees are PhP2,800 for the baby puppy category and PhP5,200 for the puppy and regular class. You can deposit your entry fee at NOKCI’s UCPB account. Meanwhile, if you just want to attend the show and marvel at the dog tricks, entrance is free!



Tip for non-Bacolodnons: There are hotels that can accommodate you and your pet, such as Buenas J Inn (09216412226) and Lux Residence (09430671459).

How to get to Ayala Malls Capitol Central Event Center: If you’re from North Ceres Terminal, ride a Bata-Libertad PUV and ask to be dropped off at Ayala Mall Capitol Central located at the back of Lagoon. On the other hand, if you’ll come from Downtown, find a Mandalagan-Libertad jeepney beside the Central Market. Then, ask to be dropped off at Ayala Mall Capitol Central. From there, walk to the event center.


3. Bacolod: How To Make Millions In The Stock Market

How to get to SM City Bacolod: Most PUVs pass by the mall. Look for any jeepney with the following routes: Bata-Libertad, Mandalagan-Libertad, Shopping La Salle, Pta. Taytay, Alijis, and Homesite. These can be found along Lacson Street and Burgos Street. Ask to be dropped off at SM.

6. BTS Negros' Bring The Soul: The Movie Special Block Screening

Attention, ARMYs! BTS is going back on screen after its last movie “Love Yourself in Seoul,” which was released seven months ago. For this next movie, BTS Negros will host an epic block screening called “Bring The Soul: The Movie” in the cinema theater of SM City Bacolod. The movie is expected to be similar to “Burn The Stage: The Movie,” and it will show the lives of the members behind the camera and off stage during tours and vacations. The ticket will include a movie pass, a banner, a postcard, a customized penlight, ribbons, and a photo booth.



Tip for a better experience: If you avail of the BTS Negros membership, you will get a free “Bring the Soul” photo card during the event.

Get ready and tie your shoelaces for National EMS Run 2019! The Association of Western Visayas Emergency Medicine Specialist Inc. (AWVEMS) is holding a marathon in line with the National Emergency Medicine Specialist (EMS) Week. Participants can register in 4 categories: 3km, 5km, 10km, and 21km. All runners will get a free shirt during the event. For the 21km category, runners will also receive a finisher’s medal.

How to get to the New Government Center: From North Ceres Terminal, ride a Bangga Pepsi-NGC jeep and get off at its final stop, New Government Center. If you're from the Downtown area, ride a jeepney with a Homesite route and ask to be dropped off at the New Government Center.
