Summer’s just around the corner, and both locals and visitors of Cebu are preparing for their much-awaited fun under the sun. Events in Cebu this March 2019 are shaping up to be some of the most exciting and anticipated, so tourists are surely in for a treat.

A dance contest, a display of Japanese culture, an exhibition of films are just some of the events lined up for the month of March. 1. UV Paint Party

Looking for a unique kind of party for the summer? Find what you’re looking for and more at the UV Paint Party hosted by the Mad Monkey Hostel. Party animals can enjoy the coolest vibe in the Queen City of the South as the hostel hosts the paint party every Wednesday of March. Clutch glow paints and lights while moving to the beat of live music from guest DJs at the event. Party starts at 8:00 PM and ends at 11:30 PM.



How to get to Mad Monkey Hostel: From Ayala Center Cebu, you can ride a jeepney plying the Talamban-Colon route and get off in front of the hostel. Just tell the driver to let you off at the Mad Monkey Hostel.


2. Sakura Festival

Where: SM Seaside City Cebu, South Road Properties, Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu City, Cebu
When: March 8, 9 and 10, 2019

Japanese culture lovers from Cebu have the Sakura Festival to look forward to. From traditional Japanese arts to the kawaii pop culture of Japan, there is something in store for everyone at the Sakura Festival. You can check out the intricate Japanese dolls at the Hina Ningyo Exhibit by Mr. Junichi Kanda or learn Japanese culinary arts during the live culinary demonstrations by The Japan Association of Confectionary Manufacturers Youth Group. Anime lovers will also get to meet and greet their favorite anime characters at the mall. Plant lovers can also check out the bonsai exhibit by the Cebu Bonsai Society.

3. M. Butterfly

When: March 14 to 17, 2019

As part of the Sakura Festival in Cebu, the Tony Award-winning play, M. Butterfly, will hug the limelight on March 14 to 17, 2019. Loosely based on a 1980’s true story, the play puts on stage the controversial love affair of René Gallimard, a French diplomat, and Song Liling, a Chinese opera singer. This latest revival of the tale of the two lovers will star Olivier Borten as Gallimard and RS Francisco as Liling.

4. K-Pop Dance Cover Competition S4 Pre-Finals

Cebuanos have been riding the K-Pop wave ever since it hit the shores of the Queen City of the South many years ago. And it appears the wave is not about to ebb anytime soon as more Cebuanos are getting into the Korean culture. In fact, you can check out the K-Pop Dance Cover Competition S4 at the South Town Centre on March 16 and March 30, 2019. The competition brings together some of the best K-Pop fans all over Cebu in an event showcasing their K-Pop dancing skills. Sponsored by the Cebu Kpop Convention, the dance competition gives K-Pop fans the chance to take after their idols even for a day or two.



How to get to South Town Centre: From the Cebu South Bus Terminal, you can get on a bus or jeepney headed for Talisay City and get off at the South Town Centre.


5. Electro Beach Festival Vol XII

Where: Ibiza Beach Club, Punta Engaño Rd, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu
When: March 23, 2019

A visit to Cebu is never complete without dropping by its world-class beaches. And since it’s summer, a beach party is in order. March is the perfect time to drop by the beaches of Cebu as Ibiza Beach Club plays host to Electro Beach Festival Vol XII. You can dance to the beats of DJ Daiki Wakabayashi and his friends as they return to the biggest party of the season on March 23, 2019. The summer kickoff party starts at 3:00 PM and ends at midnight.

How to get to Ibiza Beach Club: From Ayala Center Cebu, you can ride a taxi or a book a GrabCar at the Terraces to the Ibiza Beach Club at the Movenpick Mactan Island Hotel.
