The coming of June signals the coming of the rainy season. And when it rains, it pours. But instead of rain, you can expect a number of exciting upcoming events in Cebu this June 2019. Two concerts, a music festival, a trade show, and an open mic night are just some of the activities waiting for you when you drop by Cebu this coming June.

1. CebuCON 2019

When: June 7-10, 2019

On the evening of June 21, La Vie Parisienne will host the CebuLitFest and Fete Dela Musique Open Mic 2019. Presented by the Cebu Literary Festival and Alliance Francaise de Cebu, the event will feature spoken word along with acoustic performances by local artists and music enthusiasts. If you have the knack for music and are looking for a place to showcase your talents, you may want to join this event. Who knows? You may even be a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

Tip: If you are planning on performing in an open mic event, be comfortable with the songs you will perform to drive away the jitters once you are on stage.

Kamikazee, Queso, and Greyhoundz are bringing their acts to Cebu in a one-night-only concert on June 22. KAMIQUESOHOUNDZ 2019 CEBU is a part of the multiple city concert tour of the three popular metal bands. Kamikazee is known for hit songs such as “Narda,” “Huling Sayaw,” and “Tsinelas.” Queso gained popularity in the late 90s and early 200s through hits like “Enes,” “Parusa,” and “Mottaka.” On the other hand, Greyhoundz became a household name through songs such as “Apoy” and “Your Puppet and Clown.” The song “Even” is one of the songs on the original soundtrack of the 2002 Marvel movie “Spiderman.”

Tip: Familiarize yourself with the songs of the band performing at the concert so you can sing along with the crowd during the event.

How to get there: From SM City Cebu, you can hop on a MyBus to SM Seaside City Cebu where you can ride another MyBus to City Di Mare.

On June 28, Cebu will continue its celebration of Fête de la Musique (World Music Day) at ASPACE Cebu. This annual event started in 1982 in France and has spread across the globe. Acoustic: Fête de la Musique 2019 gives local artists the chance to show their talents through live performances at ASPACE. If you love music, you will enjoy this intimate affair where different musical genres are expected to be showcased on the stage.

Tip: Show your appreciation to performances by new artists by applauding whenever suitable. Remember, the big-name bands you like also started small.

How to get there: From Ayala Center Cebu, ride a jeepney headed for Banilad. Get off at Crossroads near the foot of the flyover. ASPACE Cebu is located at Crossroads.


7. IV of Spades: Sweet Shadow Tour Cebu

On the last Saturday of June, you can groove to the music of IV of Spades in a one-night-only concert at the IEC Convention Center of Cebu. The IV of SPADES: The Sweet Shadow Tour Cebu is the last stop of the nationwide tour of the group known for their “funk rock” musical style and 1970s-inspired outfits. Among the more popular songs of the group are “In My Prison,” “Huli Na Ba Ang Lahat,” and “Mundo.”

Tip: Wear comfortable clothes when you attend concerts and expect to groove to the music together with the rest of the crowd.

How to get there: From SM City Cebu, you can ride a jeepney going to Lahug and get off across the IEC Convention Center of Cebu in Mabolo.
