Whenever Valentine’s Day comes along, couples tend to go all out and get fancy to celebrate the day of hearts. Although mostly it’s the women who put much effort in looking flawless, men can also spend the day to pamper themselves and look good for their dinner date.
If you’re a guy, treat yourself and try some of these places in Metro Manila to get you ready for Valentine’s Day, because it’s not just the ladies who deserve to indulge and be pretty this day.
1. The Refined

The Refined aims to pamper the gentlemen of Manila.
The first gentlemen-only grooming spa in Manila, The Refined is a barbershop, spa, and tattoo shop dedicated to “refine” the men of the city. Men will immediately feel at home at its shop in Taguig with its black leather seats and minimalist interiors.
Its sleek look aside, The Refined offers services that will suit your needs and more. Its basic service called the Omega is priced at PhP1,000 and includes shampoo and conditioner treatment, haircut, mini facial, nail clipping, body massage, and a complimentary drink of either beer or coffee.
2. Back Alley Barbershop

If you are longing to know how an old school barbershop works, Back Alley Barbershop might be able to give you a taste of the good old days. While lounging on their comfy couch or enjoying their Takora Belmont chairs while being serviced, you’ll also be serenaded with jazz, blues, and classic rock music to give you a good mood.
Back Alley’s basic cut called Quickee starts at PhP250. If you want true pampering, you might want to try the Hungover Treatment (PhP850). Aside from getting a fresh cut, you’ll also be treated to a facial that consists of a cold and hot towel compress, a mask, plus a bit of a massage.
3. The John Barbers Groomers

If for some reason you forgot its Valentine’s Day and you need more than a makeover, you can pay The John Barbers Groomers a visit. Aside from offering the usual barbershop services, John Barbers offers a Bathroom Suite and Shower Lounge (PhP350) for those who need to freshen up before a date and a Nap Room (PhP350/hour) if you need a quick recharge.
John Barbers is also known for its modern facilities fit for men who are always on the go. It even has leather chairs that contain USB ports where you can charge your phone while getting a cut! The shop also has televisions behind its two-way mirror for added entertainment.
4. Cavemen Barbers

Cavemen Barbers offers more than just haircuts.
For men who still believe in one-stop shops, Cavemen Barbers in Quezon City provides haircut services and more. Contrary to what its name may suggest, Cavemen Barbers joins the roster of modern-day barbers with its industrial interiors and racks made out of pipes. It offers a basic cut called Cave It Up (PhP300). For those who have beards, Beards & Men (PhP450) might suit your needs.
Cavemen Barbers is also known for the products that it offers. The shop sells pomades by Five Families PH, beard oil from The Bearderie, and even watches from the brand Time Master.
5. The Men’s Room PH

Yes, you read that sign right. Women, except their staff, are not allowed at The Men’s Room PH.
Upon stepping inside The Men’s Room PH, you might get confused if you’ve just entered a barbershop or a bright speakeasy in 1950’s New York. Its predominantly black interior, brick walls, and pipes as design accents will take you back to a time when gentlemen smoked cigars and drank bourbon in each other’s company.
But despite the old school feel, Men’s Room PH’s services are fit for modern gents who need to have a little me-time. They offer basic services like haircut (starts at PhP200), manicure (PhP120) and pedicure (PhP150), and shaving (starts at PhP150) services. For those who want something more, they also have spa, massage, and other ‘manpering’ services to get you ready before Valentine’s Day.
6. Burnside Barber

Burnside Barber wants men to stay even after getting a cut.
For men who love a good cup of coffee while getting a cut, Burnside Barber provides both. The owners of Burnside Barber wants men to get more than just a haircut in their barbershop, but to instead have an amazing and relaxing time. Hence, one can order a hot cup of Joe and read a couple of books or magazines while lounging in their receiving area.
Once you’re seated at one of their barber’s chair, their barbers will hand you an iPad where you can choose a style you want. You can also use the device while getting a cut for entertainment. Burnside Barber’s basic cut starts at PhP350. They also offer other services like hair spa, facials, and various treatments.
7. Felipe and Sons

An oldie but goodie, Felipe and Sons has been grooming Filipino men since 2013. The ‘barberdashery’ received a following because of its unique concept of being a barbershop and haberdashery, a place where men can get customized clothing.
Don’t be intimidated by Felipe and Sons’ fame as they still offer services that you can afford even on a budget. Their basic Cut & Rinse starts at PhP395 and they also offer package services where you can get multiple services at a discounted amount. Their haberdashery on the other hand offers everything from shirts, pants, coats, to a three-piece suit.

A basketball lover’s sanctuary, Titan Barbershop is a combination of a sporting goods store carrying brands and items every baller needs and a barbershop as well. It’s no surprise that once you enter any of their branches, you’ll be welcomed by display upon display of various clothing sports brands; a nice change from the usual sparse and broody barbershop that we’re used to.
Although they offer limited barbershop services, you’ll still get what you need and leave feeling refreshed. Their basic haircut starts a PhP300 plus they also offer other services like scalp massage, scalp treatment, and coloring to name a few.
