Metro Manila, travel, things to do, weather

The month of September exits with sunny to cloudy weather, but expect light to moderate thunderstorms to continue in Metro Manila. Also, since the equinox has begun, nights will now be longer in the Philippines. In terms of transportation, expect commute to get more difficult on Monday due to a jeepney strike to protest against jeepney modernization. Also, residents in several parts of Metro Manila can expect power outages due to maintenance works. For tourists, here’s the good news: visiting Intramuros will be more convenient now that free e-scooters are available! For all the details, read on.

Expect sunny to rainy weather all over Metro Manila

Sunshine will be more frequent this week, but the possibility for thunderstorms is still high all week. Just to be sure, always bring an umbrella. Cloudy skies are also expected to last all week, so the temperature will be slightly cool and will range from 31 °C to 32 °C [1]. If you’re planning to go sightseeing or go on walking tours, bring rain protection and apply sunscreen. Flight cancellations are also likely to happen in case of severe thunderstorms. Follow the social media pages of airlines or visit their websites for the latest announcements.

Equinox to bring longer nights

According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services (PAGASA), the autumnal equinox started last September 23. With this, the length of day and night would be nearly equal. In the Philippines, this means that nights will be longer [2].
