Attention, all commuters! The Light Rail Manila Corporation has announced that the
LRT-1 will be temporarily suspended to fast-track preparations for the expected opening of LRT-1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The temporary suspension will be effective on Saturday and Sunday from August 17 to 18, August 24 to 25, and August 31 to September 1, 2024. Commercial train services will not run between Fernando Poe Jr. Station and Baclaran Station during these periods. Thus, commuters are advised to plan alternative transport routes and options.
According to The Light Rail Manila Corporation, the temporary closures will provide long-term convenience once the extended LRT-1 line becomes operational.
The upcoming LRT-1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 is set to establish a vital link between Manila and Cavite, significantly cutting down travel time from Baclaran, Pasay City, to Niog, Cavite, from one hour and 10 minutes when using local roads to just 25 minutes by train. Anticipated to commence operations before the end of the year, this extension is designed to accommodate 600,000 passengers daily.
