Beautiful tourist spots in Palawan can now be visited.


Good news for those bitten by the travel bug: several areas in the Philippines are now accepting domestic tourists. From Tagaytay to Boracay, tourist spots are gradually opening in order to revive the tourism sector. If you’re missing the sunny and tropical paradise of Palawan, you’re in luck: it is now possible to visit some of the spots in the area. For your next vacation, check out this list of five tourist spots in Palawan that reopened for local travels!


1. Miniloc Island Resort

Location: El Nido
Rates: Available upon booking

The list starts with one of the most picturesque tourists spots in Palawan. Miniloc Island, one of El Nido Resorts’ award-winning islands, started to gradually accept tourists in July under the “travel bubble” set by the Department of Tourism (DOT). Known for its lush marine life and pristine waters, Miniloc Island offers an atmosphere suited for getaways. For more adventures, guests can explore the nearby attractions such as Bacuit Bay and Snake Island. When not exploring, they can relax at the island’s rooms that are furnished with pieces made from indigenous Filipino materials.


2. Big Lagoon

Location: El Nido
Rates: Depends on tour package

The Big Lagoon is one of the most photogenic landscapes in Palawan.


El Nido’s famous Big Lagoon can now be visited again by tourists from Palawan and other areas. As a matter of fact, celebrity Janine Gutierrez celebrated her 31st birthday in the beautiful waters of this attraction. To ensure safety, those who are interested in visiting Big Lagoon and other areas in El Nido must test negative in a RT-PCR COVID-19 test at least 72 hours before their travel date.



3. Puerto Princesa Underground River

Location: Puerto Princesa
Rates: PhP150 for locals

When you think of Palawan, there’s no denying that the Puerto Princesa Underground River would come to mind. The UNESCO World Heritage site is among the tourist spots in Puerto Princesa that was targeted to reopen last December 8 by the City Incident Management Team of the city. As of December, the underground river is open for local residents only. Tourists from other areas may have to wait for the next phases of tourism reopening.


4. Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center

Location: National Highway South, Bgy. Irawan, Puerto Princesa City
Rates: PhP40 entrance fee

Besides the gorgeous landscapes, Palawan is also known for its diverse wildlife. You can see some of the rescued animals at the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center, which is now open for local tourists. Some of the animals housed at the conservation are two endangered species of crocodiles: the Philippine freshwater crocodile and saltwater crocodile.


5. Kayangan Lake

Location: Coron
Rates:
PhP300 entrance fee
PhP500 tour guide fee
PhP1,500 to PhP1,800 for Coron Island Tour rates (per person)
PhP2,700 to PhP3,250 for boat rates


Palawan Tourist Spots

The reopening of tourism in Coron allows tourists to visit natural wonders like Kayangan Lake.


Residents and other domestic tourists can enjoy the cool waters of Kayangan Lake. The breathtaking view of Kayangan’s surrounding greeneries and blue waters is enough to make anyone calm. Consisting of 70% freshwater, Kayangan is also an ideal spot for swimming, free diving, and snorkeling.
