Subic and Clark are more than ready to accept and help COVID-19 patients in its areas.

With each passing day, the number of COVID-19 cases in the country continues to rise. This causes most hospitals in various areas and provinces to reach their full capacity and leave no more room for incoming patients. Luckily, hospitals in Subic and Clark are gearing up for the battle. In order to fight the ongoing pandemic and the constant rise of cases, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority in Subic and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority in Clark have prepared hospitals and even transformed some of their biggest facilities into care and isolation areas to accommodate all COVID-19 patients. The assignment of hospitals and facilities depends on the severity of the patient’s symptoms.Read on and see which hospitals in Subic and Clark are being fortified against COVID-19.

Subic Freeport Zone, Zambales

The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority has assigned triages for Subic Bay Freeport Zone’s COVID-19 positive patients, people under monitoring (PUMs), and people under investigation (PUIs). In a social media post, SBMA Chairman Wilma T. Eisma shared the safety measures they have imposed in order to fight the global pandemic. This includes a list of facilities that will accommodate different types of patients.

Hospitals such as the Allied Care Experts Medical Center-Baypointe and Baypointe Hospital and Medical Center will serve as triages and places of confinement for PUIs with severe symptoms. The Subic Gym and former Leciel Hotel will both be used as care and isolation facilities for PUIs with mild to moderate symptoms, and asymptomatic patients as well. The gym will be home to 50 collapsible hospital beds, and the hotel’s 81 rooms will all serve as an additional triage area. Both the gym and hotel will be under the supervision of experts from the Department of Health-Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit which will help the SBMA manage the overall capacities of the facilities.

Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority announced its “We Heal As One” Centers that are accepting COVID-19 patients with mild to no symptoms. These centers include the ASEAN Convention Center in Clark with a capacity of 150 beds, and the National Government Administrative Center in New Clark City that is home to 400 beds but will be expanded to 1,000 beds. Both facilities have air conditioned cubicles, free food for patients and medical staff, free internet connection, and round-the-clock medical assistance. The facilities are ready to accommodate patients referred from hospitals in Central Luzon.

As of April 14, the country has recorded a total of 4,932 cases including 315 fatalities and 242 recoveries.
