Raise your hand if you are a self-confessed milk tea addict! Taking the world by storm, “boba tea,” also known as bubble milk tea, is hailed as the millennials’ favorite refreshment. Since the tasty drink has tapioca at the bottom of the cup, it is considered by some to be more like a snack than a beverage.

Bacolod has a lot of milk tea shops giving locals lots of choices to satisfy their cravings. But one stands out with its unique concept: Builtea. It may look like the usual milk tea hangout but Builtea is one of those hidden gems that people hardly come across. Continue reading to discover the things you can do and try in this milk tea haven!

1. Explore and create your own drink.

Some drinks created by the customers are featured on Builtea’s Facebook Page.

The first step to having a delicious drink is choosing the right liquid base and flavors. Make sure that it also compliments your desired sinkers and toppings. Builtea offers various flavors, so you can play around with the liquid base, sinkers, and toppings to create your original drink. For only PhP150, you can have a large drink with any flavor you want to mix and five sinkers and toppings. The more sinkers and toppings you add, the less liquid they will put. It's worth noting that all the drinks for dine-in customers are served in glass containers and with metal straws to help Mother Nature. If you are watching your blood sugar, you can also adjust the sweetness level of your drink. Once you’ve decided the mixtures for your creation, be proud and give it a cool name!

If you’re not sure of which flavor to mix, you can ask for assistance from the staff. Be honest about your preferences: whether you want it to be sweet, creamy, or fruity. The more specific you are, the better the outcome will be for your drink!

2. Try the best-seller and unlimited milk tea.

Brown Sugar Overload is Builtea’s chart-topper.

If you can’t decide what to put in your drink, they also have other milk tea options in their flavorsome menu. One recommended item is Builtea’s Brown Sugar Overload (PhP130 Regular and PhP140 Large). The establishment proudly makes the brown syrup from scratch using locally sourced muscovado sugar. The sweetness of this creamy drink would give you enough energy to last the entire day.

The three-liter tea tower is available for sharing and it includes two choices of your favorite sinkers. Gather the group and decide which flavor to get, and don’t forget to share it equally!

4. Pair your tea with Filipino food.

And while it is originally intended for sharing, if you can finish the whole plate by yourself, go for it! Who doesn’t love a good snack paired with a sweet drink, right?

5. Enjoy the lively atmosphere and the fun games.
