This rainy season, Cebuanos heading south can anticipate heavy traffic as construction on a new underpass will soon begin. When the downpour strikes, one can relish in a good bowl of batchoy in an unassuming joint in the city. On the weekend, locals and tourists can check out a museum for a soon-to-be Visayan saint, or enjoy a music festival.

The public can expect heavy traffic traffic along N. Bacalso Ave. and F. Llamas St. in the coming months due to the construction of a PhP638 million underpass. In preparation for the construction, the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) implemented a rerouting dry run two weeks ago. But this was soon scrapped as southbound motorists experienced bumper-to-bumper traffic on the second night of the rerouting.

With this, the CCTO has ordered the Department of Public Works and Highways in Central Visayas (DPWH-7) to fix the alternate routes before starting the first phase of the underpass project.
