The best thing about the country’s Christmas season is you can already feel it even months before December—thanks to the cold air to the familiar Christmas tunes on the radio. And in case those weren’t enough to make you feel the holiday spirit, you will also be surrounded by the most dazzling Christmas lights show. In urban places like Metro Manila, bright lights are nothing new, but cities transform into magical havens perfect for spending time with loved ones come Christmas. With restrictions eased and more people getting vaccinated, it’s safe to say that many can now enjoy dazzling lights and Christmas festivities in Metro Manila.

So if you’re planning to roam cities for the most spectacular light displays and light shows to lift your spirits or for a dazzling Christmas celebration, the list below got you covered!

Are you visiting Eastwood soon for your Christmas gift shopping? You’re in luck; the Metro Manila mall also now features its annual Christmas light displays! This year features the works of Filipino contemporary artist Leeroy News, an exhibition of different whimsical and towering sculptures of fungi and mushrooms.

Despite not having the usual figures and symbols of Christmas, this light display still feels extra festive, thanks to its vibrant lights. Plus, visitors will get to hear Diego Mapa’s modern rendition of classic Christmas songs. This colorful lights display is part of Eastwood’s displays and Christmas festivities. Other holiday-themed decorations like the Magical Christmas Carousel Garden, neon lights display, and 40-foot Christmas tree are also within the Eastwood City compound.

One of the most complicated facts of life is that other people spend Christmas away from their loved ones. So how can you celebrate the festive season even if you’re miles away? It is the primary mission of Ayala Land and Make It Makati’s “Festival of Lights: Virtual Edition,” for holidays this 2021, which hopes to connect friends and families virtually.

The interactive light display premieres this November 12 on Make It Makati’s Facebook, where you can view the spectacular 360-degree sound and lights show wherever you are in the world. Whether you’re an OFW who’s missing the country or someone who prefers a safer light show at home, this dazzling virtual light display is one you should check out!



3. Ortigas East Christmas Street Musical

Duration: 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM

For many Eastsiders, the Ortigas East Christmas Street Musical is an annual tradition that everyone looks forward to in Metro Manila. The lights show has been a popular picture spot for friends and families celebrating the holiday season. Its location is also ideal due to its proximity to Metro Manila malls like Tiendesitas, Megamall, and Robinsons Galleria. You can do a quick visit after doing some Christmas shopping.

Along with the breathtaking lights show, the Christmas Street Musical Light Tunnel also features a food night market in an alfresco setting—perfect for Christmas celebration in the new normal. Some nights also include live music from talented local musicians. And if you can’t stay around, you can also do a quick drive-by under the tunnel.


4. Alabang Town Center

What makes Alabang Town Center’s lights show and displays different from the other items in this list is that they hold a weekly holiday fireworks show. This tradition has been ongoing for years and has become a favorite among many residents in Metro Manila.

Aside from the fireworks, the mall also features various Christmas festivities, as lights show through a Christmas 3D mapping projection perfect for the entire family’s Christmas celebration. While Alabang Town Center has yet to announce the holidays 2021’s theme and beautiful decorations, you can expect only the most festive lights show like the ones they had previously. It is definitely worth the visit to the South!



5. Araneta Center Christmas tree

For many years, Cubao’s iconic giant Christmas tree has greeted happy faces during the holiday season.

Araneta’s famous Christmas tree will also be returning this year as it commemorates the 40th anniversary of its lighting. This year, they will continue a virtual lighting ceremony with special guests and prizes awaiting those who will join the Christmas celebration, but if you want to see the tree in person, you can also do so! The theme for this year’s Christmas festivities will be “Believe in the Magic of Christmas,” which is extra meaningful during these trying times.

The iconic giant tree in Cubao is already beautiful during the day, but it transforms into a very festive piece in Metro Manila during night time. Along with the towering Christmas tree, you can also enjoy Araneta City’s dazzling lights show like the Christmas on Display (COD) which has been ongoing for decades. Due to Metro Manila’s Alert Level 2, kids are allowed in the area so generations of families can enjoy the Christmas festivities while also admiring the classic decorations.


Christmas in the Philippines is indeed full of shining, shimmering splendid with all these great lights show!
