Bacolod, travel, things to do

Because we are all delivered in this world by our mothers unconditionally, let’s honor them this Mother’s Day. How about giving a bouquet of flower or a simple card, ordering a colorful cake, or having dinner with the whole family? These are simple celebrations, yet they are meaningful to our moms who have cared so much for us.

Now, if you plan to take a long drive this week, be careful since the weather will be a little wet and roads might get slippery. When driving a motorcycle vehicle in Bacolod, make sure to follow the riding-in-tandem ordinance that will take effect immediately. Meanwhile, the police authority will take measures to ensure safe and successful local and national elections on May 13. For entertainment, Magikland Theme Park in Silay City will be opening once the facilities will be fully operational.

Weather Advisory: Partly to mostly cloudy skies with few rains

This week’s wet weather will most likely make you decide to stay indoors. Expect rain showers and thunderstorms mostly in the mornings. But since this week’s temperature will range from 33°C to 35°C, warm and humid air will remain to be sensed. If you can’t get enough of summer escapades yet despite the rain, head to resorts with indoor pools [1].

Traffic News: ‘Riding-in-tandem’ ordinance now implemented

With the alarming shooting incidents involving riding-in-tandem suspects in Bacolod City recently, the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) was urged to strictly enforce the riding-in-tandem ordinance. Under this ordinance, it will be unlawful for any driver to have a back rider on a motorcycle vehicle starting from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the next day, every day [2].

Councilor Ramos, chairperson of the city council, said that BTAO has already arrested 28 violators since last week. Violators were also fined 300. There were also illegal firearms or weapons recovered from some of the motorcycle drivers.

Travel Updates

Magikland Theme Park to open to the public anytime soon

Many locals have enjoyed the special soft opening of Magikland Theme Park last week. Located in Brgy. Guinhalaran in Silay City, Negros Occidental, this theme park is the first of its kind in this region of Visayas [4].

Though the construction and testing of rides are still ongoing as of the moment, the local government organized the special opening to allow the people to take a glimpse of the world-class theme park. Once the amusement park opens in full operation, it is expected to boost tourism and generate more jobs.

Neg. Occ. Police Authority on the watch for May 13 elections

While people are now getting ready to travel to their voting areas and provinces to exercise their right to vote, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) have tightened their watch to guard against those who are planning to disrupt the upcoming elections in Negros Occidental.

To secure the May 13 elections, a warning was issued from the office of Col. Romeo Baleros, Police Provincial Director, after police operatives seized alleged illegal firearms and ammunition during their three-day operations with search warrants in the town of Isabela [3]. Col. Baleros revealed that there are groups who have high potential in perpetrating violence during election.

Meanwhile, gun owners are advised by the authority to be responsible and to obtain necessary documents needed when having firearms.
